A massive billboard over one of Sydney’s busiest roads may soon be fossil-free thanks to a vote by Mosman council.
The screen, seen by 66,719 drivers and 42,973 bus passengers every day, has been used to advertise coal company, Glencore and greenwashing gas corporations.
Mosman councillors all supported a ban in principle and voted to explore how they can rid community property of coal, oil and gas ads.
Thank Mosman Council by sharing our Instagram post.
Deputy Mayor, Michael Randall, told ABC Radio Sydney, “When I saw these ads I realised that they were a form of greenwashing and they actually created a false sense of environmental responsibility that really undermines the work that Council is doing to engage our community and work towards achieving net zero emissions.”
Thank you Mosman!
