The NSW north coast town has also taken an extra step, agreeing to write to local events and organisations, asking them to take a similar action against big polluters.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Byron Bay is a major hub for festivals and events.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1fBRg64MK2ygbKnZrgOyLG3VVxJvOlWBk\/edit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"1\">Notice of Motion<\/a>\u00a0that was approved, requested the General Manager add &#8216;fossil fuels&#8217; to the products that are banned from entering into sponsorship\u00a0agreements with the council.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The sponsorship policy will now be put on public\u00a0exhibition saying:<\/div>\n<div><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><span id=\"x_gmail-docs-internal-guid-89597f8b-7fff-da27-9df6-2b831ed8e989\">&#8216;The following companies, partnerships, sole traders or individuals are not suitable sponsors in Byron Shire, those:<\/span><strong><br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span id=\"x_gmail-docs-internal-guid-8e817675-7fff-1e43-ca47-7ae5f67dff12\">involved in the manufacture, distribution and wholesaling of tobacco related products, involved in the extraction and sale of coal, petroleum and gas, pornography and\/or addictive drugs&#8217;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>Thank you to the Byron Bay Mayor, Councillor Asren Pugh and everyone in Byron who cares about our health and planet.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Byron Bay is the 10th council to vote for a Fossil Ad Ban &nbsp; We have ended the year on a high,\u00a0with\u00a0Byron Shire Council\u00a0becoming the\u00a010th council to vote for a&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":488,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[7],"tags":[],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.5 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>2022 ends with a ban!
